A practical curriculum for a leading economics department
Ideal for students with some mathematical background, the Master of Applied Economics and Data Science (MAEDS) is a full-time, on-campus degree that combines the quantitative analysis expertise from Penn’s leading Department of Economics with applied learning, preparing graduates to enter the workforce with a practical understanding of the complexities of current economic issues combined with the tools and knowledge to address those issues and succeed in their data-analytic careers. MAEDS is designed to prepare ambitious students with the practical skills needed to drive effective decision-making in the public, private, nonprofit, or non-government sectors in which students embrace both economic models for decision-making and econometric methods for data analysis, as well as their interface, ultimately developing expertise in a range of technological tools.
In the MAEDS program, you:
- Earn an Ivy League master’s degree via full-time, on campus study in three semesters (fall, spring, and summer semesters)
- Draw on the expertise of Penn’s Department of Economics faculty
- Gain professional experience and develop your professional networks via internships and/or professional development
- Complete 12 courses and a team research capstone
