LPS international undergraduate programs
University of Pennsylvania is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania—the sixth-largest city in the United States—and is midway between New York City and Washington, DC. Our central location allows us to bring international students to campus and to send our domestic students, faculty, and staff around the world, making it possible to educate global citizens and inspire our future leaders.
Through open learning, online learning, and international programming, Penn’s College of Liberal and Professional Studies (LPS) continues to push the boundaries of education and foster interdisciplinary integration. Our liberal arts education teaches students to analyze, communicate, and transform facts into knowledge that is then applied within a real-world context. Our academic departments include subject areas from anthropology and political science to environmental sciences and South Asian studies. And our faculty scholars are leaders in creating new knowledge and are engaged in nearly every area of interdisciplinary innovation.
At Penn LPS, we are committed to creating a community of students, scholars, and staff that reflects the diversity of the world we live in.

*Academic credit is defined by the University of Pennsylvania as a course unit (c.u.). A course unit (c.u.) is a general measure of academic work over a period of time, typically a term (semester or summer). A c.u. (or a fraction of a c.u.) represents different types of academic work across different types of academic programs and is the basic unit of progress toward a degree. One c.u. is usually converted to a four-semester-hour course.
