Course Description
Advanced study of laboratory skills in research concentration with the goal of learning new research techniques while supervised by a faculty member or designee. Students will be evaluated based on the work plan designed with the faculty research mentor and director of the program. Students will be expected to spend less than 20hrs/week learning laboratory skills. To obtain a grade, students will submit a technical report at the end of the semester. Students are encouraged to meet twice a semester either in private with Dr. Ross or during ‘Journal Club’ meetings to discuss research, challenges or practice presenting a journal article relevant to the research of interest. Before a student proceeds to Capstone Research, they must submit a Capstone Proposal that will be reviewed and must be approved. More information may be found in the MCS Capstone Guidelines.
