Besides her day job as a senior learning designer on the SAS Online Learning team, Meryl Krieger devotes her time to volunteering with Project 440, a Philadelphia nonprofit that helps high school students who are interested in the arts and music learn entrepreneurial, leadership, and life skills.

Meryl has decades of experience as a music teacher and joined Project 440’s board over six years ago, helping steer the organization through program growth—including the launch of two youth development programs and navigating expansion during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Krieger sees parallels between her volunteer work and her work at Penn—especially with the online Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences, where students build career-relevant portfolios. She says both aim to support “real people who want to take a next step in their life, whatever it’s going to look like.”
