Philadelphia Water Department, Apprenticeship and Workforce Development Director
Alex Warwood grew up in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania where he spent his formative years exploring the countryside and waterways surrounding his family’s home. He developed a passion for the outdoors and adventure that continues to guide him personally and professionally. Upon graduation from Temple University, Alex joined the United States Coast Guard, where he investigated and enforced environmental pollution regulations as a petty officer. After his honorable discharge, Alex earned a Master of Environmental Studies from the University of Pennsylvania. Embracing his interests in the outdoors and his experience in environmental and public service, Alex joined the Philadelphia Water Department as an environmental scientist. In that role, he supported green stormwater infrastructure maintenance and workforce development initiatives. Currently, Alex works in human resources as the apprenticeship and workforce development director, guiding, preparing and motivating the next generation of water resource industry professionals.
