On Sunday, May 19, Penn’s College of Liberal and Professional Studies (LPS) welcomed family, friends and faculty for the Class of 2019 graduation ceremony, honoring 330 students graduating from undergraduate and graduate programs. Vice Dean Nora E. Lewis congratulated a record number of graduates onstage at the Zellerbach Theatre at the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts. “Each of you came to Penn with purpose, agency, and a strong sense of the problems facing our world,” said Lewis in her welcoming address. “We celebrate your development into citizens of the 21st century.”
Dr. Cristina Bicchieri, S.J.P. Harvie Professor of Social Thought and Comparative Ethics at the University of Pennsylvania, addressed the crowd as the guest speaker for the ceremony. Dr. Bicchieri is the director of the Philosophy, Politics and Economics program and head of the Behavioral Ethics Lab (BeLab) in the School of Arts and Sciences. She is the director of the Master of Behavioral and Decision Sciences program in the College of Liberal and Professional Studies, now in its second year. She also founded the Penn Social Norms Group (PENN SoNG), which provides research, consulting and training services to organizations that aim to positively impact human behavior.
Several students in the Class of 2019 received awards for their leadership, dedication, service and academic excellence. Take a look at the full list of student award recipients and the faculty who received 2019 Distinguished Teaching Awards.
