A recent article in Omnia announced the launch of a new academic program at Penn: The Master of Applied Criminology and Police Leadership (MCPL). Offered through the College of Liberal and Professional Studies, the advanced degree will be the first of its kind in the US.
Penn criminology and sociology professor John McDonald was inspired to develop the MCPL after observing an applied research-based program at the University of Cambridge designed for police executives. Preparing to welcome its first class in fall 2025, the Penn program will bring together the scholarship and expertise of the University to offer a hands-on, evidence-based education for police leaders.
