Course Description
Are we headed toward a food crisis? Experts at every level are sounding the alarm that climate change is impacting our global food supply. Drought, intense heat, flooding, increased pest pressure, erosion, degraded soils are all making it difficult to grow enough food to feed a planet with an expanding population. In this course, we will discuss the problem in-depth, focusing on how food is produced around the globe and the solutions needed to ensure food security. What is regenerative agriculture and is it scalable? What are the technological and societal solutions currently available to us? And what new discoveries are on the horizon that could help us feed the future? We will also look at policy, supply chains, and global trade as they intersect in a world where the US is growing increasingly isolated.
