A Master of Liberal Arts alumni pilots a virtual green consulting project for Galápagos businesses

Jesse Hamilton believes that in the Galápagos Islands, locally owned businesses can be both ecofriendly and profitable. This summer, a pilot program to demonstrate this proved to be a success.

After serving in the military and then working in the financial industry, Hamilton enrolled in Penn’s Master of Liberal Arts program, hoping to expand his interest in philosophy and the humanities. Hamilton graduated in 2019 and is now a first-year philosophy doctoral student.

Successful post-baccalaureate society for women in health takes off at Penn

“The word ‘community’ is at the core of our organization,” shares Diana Zarowin, a Pre-Health Core student and founding member of Penn’s American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA) Pre-Med chapter. “Having a community of people who are likeminded—and with a sense of intent and strength, want to forward the position of women in the health sector—is a strong attraction of the club.”

On Monday, September 24, 12 students in Penn’s Pre-Health Post-Baccalaureate Programs joined students from Penn Medicine for the Department of Surgery’s Operating Room Gowning and Scrubbing Orientation. This session, which was taught by perioperative staff members Maureen McCauley and Malcolm Waddell, is designed to prepare medical students to get clinical exposure by shadowing established surgeons on their rotations.
